BB16: Hide Yo Bunnies

There are dark clouds squatting over the soap land of BB16. What promised to be a cast that laughed together, played together and sang Kumbaya together, is being marred by sinister soundtrack playing in the background. Rifts are forming here and there but none greater than in one particular house guest's psyche.

By day 13, Amber and Caleb fell in love, exchanging passionate glances across crowded rooms and broke up because Amber was just using him, moving on to someone else.

Yeah, none of that happened, except in Caleb's mind.
This is all he has talked about to anyone who is trapped in his company. Now, he waffles between calling her a floater who needs to be evicted or maintaining that it's just a game and if she wants to go for dinner after the show...

OMG! The dude is unstable. No seriously, he's teetering on full cray cray. Some are explaining his behaviour as PTSD which may or not be true, making one wonder where the show's psychiatrists got their degrees...

From a game standpoint, he's the Bomb Squad's trigger and it's defective. Also, it's my personal pet peeve when people misuse the term 'floater' especially this early in the game. Just because someone isn't talking game to him, doesn't mean they aren't talking game.

Anyway, back to the Bomb Squad. Suffice it to say, it's done. Not only has Caleb gone full Fatal Attraction, Devin has begun to grate on everyone's nerves. Apart from his singlehandedly outing the Bomb Squad to Christine and Amber which should have earned him a nomination and immediate target, his mouth just will not stop. That's when he's not moping around and whining. Even his alliance wants him gone. But worse, he's responsible for fueling Caleb's dangerous delusions about Amber.

The crazy doesn't stop there. Joey, the sole member of Team American't to date, has probably taken on the task of crossdressing. In any other situation, with any other house guest, this would have been hilarious, but Alex has only managed to creep-out everyone in house. There is no playfulness in her demeanor, resulting in no one wanting to play along with her. If she gets the 5K, good for her but this is just more proof that the twist is ridiculous. It's not even helping her stay in the game. If anyone had any doubts, they no longer do. Bye bye recruit.

In other heartbreaking news, the short-lived showmance, of less than 12 days, between Nicole and Hayden is over. The fact that yet another 'relationship' started and ended before the first person is evicted is laughably ridiculous. How will this impact their games? Who knows? They both are in the outskirts of alliances without being in any. Maybe showdivorce was they way to go since they both seem to be playing under the radar.

The internet is rife with speculation about Zankie. People have gone as far as to accuse others who don't think this is a showmance as homophobes. Really? Whatever. Bottom line, whether it's a showmance, a bromance or a nomance, one fact remains, they seem to genuinely like each other and are both in it to win it. From Zack's preseason interviews, we know that he will do and say anything to win this game. This very well can include Dr. Will-ing Frankie. The question remains, will Frankie turn the tables on him? Will they go the distance or will they implode like so many other alliances have in the past 2 weeks?

Finally, from the deranged to the ridiculous, we have swimsuitgate and Victoria who spent a good portion of time complaining about Joey having borrowed and ruined her swim suit. When Jocasta gave her the sound advice not to lend things she can't do without, Victoria went into full pout mode. While the other ladies were sympathetic to her 'plight', this incident will no doubt count against her in the future. Given that she's a 'princess' she no doubt has many swim suits, yet she didn't have the common sense to take the loss quietly. She's not in any alliances either, though she seems to think she's in one with Frankie who nominated her... Doh.

Big Brother Lexicon

There are certain terms that have been used in the course of this show that should be clarified. Here is a list:

Team America: Yet Another tool for production to manipulate the game. Three players will be placed in alliance by "America" and will be given tasks that apparently will change the game. So far, it didn't change Joey's game, first member of Team America slated to be evicted first.

Battle of the Block: The 2 nominees of each of the 2 HoHs will battle each other. The winner duo save themselves and dethrone the HoH who nominated them, throwing them back out of power at risk of being a renom.

AGP: Allison Grodner of Fly on the Wall Productions which is the company that has been hired by CBS to produce the show.

PoV: Power of Veto. This allows the holder to save one of the nominations for eviction. The last PoV of the game is the most powerful, as it determines who will be evicted.

HoH: Head of Household. Along with getting a primo suite, a letter from home, pictures and treats, this person decides who will be nominated and renominated should the veto be used.

Floater: This term is often misused. A "floaters" strategy is legitimate way to get through and win the game. A prime example of this is Jun Song (BB4). This strategy allows the player to switch alliances when necessary, win when necessary, but always work under the wire. It doesn't mean just going with the power in the house (let's call those floppers). It means manipulating the house, ergo having the power. In later years, the term has been misused for players who do not make any moves in the game but work for whoever has the power.

Backdoor: This strategy is used when the true target for eviction is not initially nominated, does not get a chance to play PoV, is subsequently nominated and evicted.

Blindside: When a player is evicted without even suspecting that he/she is the target.

Pawn: This is a person who is nominated but is part of the HoH's alliance and is used as a decoy, to ensure that the other person nominated gets evicted. It has often happened that the pawn has been blindsided.

America's Player: This is a player in the game, chosen by the viewing public, who is told how to act and vote in the house. They do this for a separate monetary reward.

Fast Forward: When there are two evictions in one week. Typically they tape an eviction on Tuesday followed by a quickie HoH. They have nominations later that night, followed by a PoV competition and PoV ceremony the next day. The second eviction and HoH comp for that week happens live on Thursday.

Double Eviction: On the live show on Thursday, there is an eviction (sometimes pre-taped), followed by a quick HoH comp, immediate nominations, a PoV competition, PoV Ceremony, followed by another Eviction, culminating in the second HoH comp which is usually a physical skill or Endurance.
